Due to using a lunar calendar, Muslim holidays do not fall on the same day every year. Eid al-Adha marks the end of the annual Hajj, or pilgrimage to Mecca, and symbolizes Abraham's faithfulness when God asked him to sacrifice his son. The worshipers sacrifice an animal as a symbol of Abraham's sacrifice, the meat is then used for a feast, followed by prayers. But, the festival is often disrupted by the Israeli's and Anonymous Redcult has reminded them that the world is watching. The team declares that they will isolate Israel from the world by disabling the country's entire Internet if the celebrations are met with violent force. Turkey was hit by a similar attack recently when Anonymous Redcult and others took the entire country offline two weeks.

Redcult is known for Operation ISIS, where they made headlines last year for taking out social media accounts used by the Islamic State. The idea was to disrupt their recruiting process, since the governments responsible for creating the group has done nothing to limit their activities online. The operation has been ongoing and, while no longer making headlines, continues to make a difference in the fight against the extremists. The recent video announcement can be seen above.

The area known as Al-Haram al-Sharif, or the Nobel Sanctuary, is the third holiest site in the Islamic world, and due to it's significance in Judaism, has faced the continuous threat of annexation since the birth of the recent Jewish state. The Israeli occupation has traditionally not made celebrating at this location easy for the Palestinians. Events there have been described as a war zones, with heavily armed Israeli security forces brutalizing random worshipers, while allowing local Zionist settlers to freely desecrate the sacred site. Excuses used to attack the crowds in the past were reportedly fabricated, as you can read in this testimony from Sept. 2015. Violence erupted in 2014 when Yom Kippur and Eid al-Adha overlapped, which happens once every 33 years, and again in 2015. With the events numbering in the thousands, they usually involve crowd control tactics and a heavy show of force by the Israeli state, violence is expected again this year.

With peace being the goal of the operation, we can only hope the noble efforts of these hactivists help to prevent further violence. While Prime Minister Netanyahu has offered a greeting to Israel's Muslim citizens...

โ€œOn the occasion of the Feast of the Sacrifice, Eid al-Adha, I am happy to extend holiday greetings to our Muslim and Druze citizens โ€” Kol aโ€™am wa antom bekhair,โ€ he said. โ€œOn the holiday we cherish values that the Jewish faith also sanctifies: Fear of Heaven, family and helping oneโ€™s fellow. This is an additional example of the many things that unite us in our lives together in the State of Israel.โ€

...with a track record like the Prime Minister's it is hard to imagine that statement being anything but empty words.
