Humanitarian Crisis Deepens in Gaza
The Gaza Strip is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. With over 670,000 people sheltering in nearly 150 UNRWA installations, the situation in shelters is critical. Limited assistance and overcrowding have created severe health and protection risks for internally displaced people (IDPs). Urgent intervention is imperative to address the escalating challenges faced by these vulnerable populations.

Conflict Spreads to the West Bank and East Jerusalem
The conflict has spilled into the West Bank and East Jerusalem, where Israeli Security Forces (ISF) operations have resulted in Palestinian fatalities and injuries. Civilian infrastructure in areas like Askar, Dheisheh, and Jenin refugee camps has been damaged, exacerbating the crisis. Students in several regions, including Bethlehem Governorate and Jenin refugee camp, are unable to attend school due to the volatile security situation.
Humanitarian Access and Protection Concerns
Humanitarian access remains a pressing concern. Since October 7, 67 UNRWA colleagues have been killed, and at least 22 have been injured. Additionally, 44 UNRWA installations have been damaged, hindering the organization's ability to provide essential services. While humanitarian supplies have entered Gaza, the demand far exceeds the available resources.

UNRWA's Ongoing Response
UNRWA continues its unwavering efforts to support those affected by the crisis. Despite challenges, UNRWA shelters remain operational. Health centers have recorded thousands of patient visits, with medical teams providing vital care. Relief and social services, including psychosocial support, are being extended to vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, injured individuals, children, and the elderly. However, the urgent need for sustained humanitarian aid persists.
A Plea for Ceasefire
As the conflict escalates, the need for an immediate ceasefire is paramount. The international community's assistance is crucial to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians caught in this crisis. UNRWA calls for a Ceasefire NOW, emphasizing the urgent need to protect civilian lives and ensure access to essential humanitarian aid.
